September market update 18 September 2026

Higher rates, fewer jets

A presidential threat to shut Bombardier out of the U.S., $20 billion of Canadian tariffs, and the first Fed rate rise since 2023 all landed inside ten days. None of it slowed the aircraft that are actually trading: August pre-owned sales ran 12% ahead of last year and the best large-cabin jets are clearing in under three months. What changed is the cost of waiting — and October, with NBAA-BACE and another Fed meeting, will show whether that holds.

Common questions

Buying or selling an aircraft.

What is an exclusive listing?

An aircraft TPJC represents directly on behalf of its owner — pricing, condition and negotiation handled with a single point of contact rather than through multiple brokers.

What does "off-market" mean?

For sale, but never publicly listed. Many owners prefer discretion — and after twenty years in this market, TPJC frequently hears about aircraft before they are listed.

How much does a private jet cost?

Pre-owned light jets typically $2–10 million; midsize and super-midsize $4–18 million; long-range large-cabin $10–70 million or more, depending on age, condition, pedigree and hours.

Do you help first-time buyers?

Yes — from identifying the right aircraft for the mission through negotiation, pre-purchase inspection, and proven legal, tax, escrow and management specialists at closing.
