Introduced in 1983, the Hawker 800 offers several improvements over the 700, the most noticeable being the redesigned cockpit windscreen. Accompanying this are a modified rear fuselage fairing, as well as a glass cockpit and uprated Garrett TFE731-5R-1H engines providing 4,200 pounds of thrust apiece on takeoff. British Aerospace also improved the wing by incorporating new outer wing sections, which helped to reduce drag and improve aerodynamic efficiency. This resulted in the best-selling variant of the 125 aircraft family to-date, and one of the most popular light business jets in the category. The Hawker 800A also sports aerodynamic winglets that add stability, especially in turbulent weather. Aircraft shipped to markets other than North America were designated Hawker 800B models, and are otherwise identical to more common 800A variants.
